Mysore Airport Terminal & Location

Mysore Airport (IATA: MYQ, ICAO: VOMY), also known as Mandakalli Airport is an airport serving the city of Mysore. The Airport is located about 12 km (7 miles) south of Mysore city.

Defunct from the mid-1980s, it was reopened to scheduled services on October 1, 2010 after upgraded work completed. The new terminal building has a capacity to accommodate 200 passengers. The runway at the airport measures 1,858 m (6,096 ft).

Since then, the modernized airport has seen two airlines, Kingfisher Airlines and SpiceJet, begin and then end flights to it due to lack of patronage. However Air India Regional brought the airport back into operation on 3 September 2015, with six weekly flights to Bengaluru.

The state government has sanctioned funds to upgrade the runway length to anywhere between 2,400 m (7,870 ft) and 2,600 m (8,530 ft). Meanwhile, a sanction has already been given for civil and electrical works of the second phase of the project. The second phase will include upgrade of the airport with an apron, setting up of air traffic control, meteorological department and upgrading the terminal.

The Airport comes under the administrative control of the Airports Authority of India (AAI).

Mysore Airport's passenger terminal occupies 3,250 square metres (35,000 sq ft) and can hold a maximum of 200 passengers.

Volvo buses from Mysuru City Bus Stand are available 7 times a day before flight timings.
