Pantnagar Airport
Pantnagar Airport (IATA: PGH, ICAO: VIPT) is a domestic airport located in
Pantnagar of Udham Singh Nagar district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand.
It is the nearest airport to the Kumaon hill stations of Nainital (65 km),
Bhimtal (50 km), Ranikhet (110 km) and Almora (120 km) and the Jim Corbett
National Park (120 km).
The Airport has one runway, oriented 10/28 degrees, 4,500 feet (1372 m) long
and 100 feet (30 m) width with asphalt surface. There is one entry gate and
two x-ray baggage scanner provided by Airports
Authority of India (AAI), the Airport are able to handle 50 passengers
for arrival and 20 passengers for departure at one time.
Chargeable car park facility with 18 lots of parking space are available in
this Airport. There is no car rental counter at the Airport. Taxi can be
arranged on request basis from nearby town i.e. Rudrapur or Haldwani. Other
public transportation option is take the three-wheeler.
In August 2015, Airport Advisory Committee said that the Airport will be
developed into cargo hub and the length of the runway will be extended from
its present length of 1,372 m to 1,865 m to cater larger airplanes.
The Airport has had a facility of meteorological services by the India
Meteorological Department since its inception.
AAI is the operator of this Airport.
