Hmuifang

Hmuifang is a tourist spot near Aizawl, Mizoram. It is about 50 km from Aizawl With an elevation of 1619 metres, the mountain is still covered with virgin forests reserved since the Mizo Chief's time. Hmuifang is on the way to Lunglei.

Hmuifang Tourist resort has been built right on the former land of Lallianvunga the erstwhile chief who used to rule over the villages in the mountain. Hmuifang is also the source of Tuirial River.

Thalfavang Kut, a Mizo festival is being regularly being held in Hmuifang organized the Tourism Department of Mizoram to promote Tourism. Different Mizo dances like Cheraw, Sawlakai, Siktuithiang lam and Chheihlam are showcased in the festival.

Hmuifang Tourist Resort, located at the scenic peak of the mountain, has been created and maintained by the Department of Tourism. The resort has comfortable accommodation offering 6 double rooms and a cafeteria. The patches of grasslands on the peak are also ideal for picnics and outdoor camping. From here, one may visit the Mizo villages situated on the hillsides – Hmuifang village, Sumsuih village, Lamchhip village and Chamring village, to see the typical rural life of the Mizos.

Getting There

Located at a distance of 50 km to the south of Aizawl. Taxis and buses are available aplenty to take a ride to and fro Hmuifang.

Aizawl is connected by roads with various major cities of Mizoram. It is connected by road with Silchar through National Highway 54 (NH54), with Agartala through National Highway 40 (NH40) and with Imphal through National Highway 150 (NH150). Various bus routes run within the city along with the taxis that ply the roads, making it very convenient for the locals to travel within the city.

Silchar is the nearest railway station to Aizawl which is only 178 km away from the city. Local trains are also available to Lumding from here. Mizoram state transport buses ply between Aizawl and Silchar daily.

Aizawl is served by Lengpui Airport, located 35 km northwest of the city. Currently Air India are operating scheduled flights daily at Lengpui Airport to Imphal and Kolkata. Jet Airways also provide scheduled flights to Guwahati and Kolkata from this Airport three flights weekly.
