Salugara Monastery
Salugara Monastery in Bagdogra town is among those places which are renowned
for their monasteries and monks. Tourists can pay a visit to the beautiful
monasteries in Bagdogra. Salugara Monastery is located about 13 km away from
Bagdogra and is famous for stupas of Buddha.
This monastery was built by Buddhist monks who are the followers of His
Holiness The Dalai Lama. The most important attraction of this monastery is
the Stupa which is 110 feet tall and was founded by the Tibetan Lama, Kalu
Rinpoche. According to an ancient belief, the monastery is surrounded by
hills which protect it. Thousands of people visit this place to witness the
beautiful relics and idols of the monastery.
