The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has constructed the Bathinda Civil Enclave on 42 acres of land owned by Indian Air Force. The Airport has one asphalt runway, oriented 13/31, the length of runway is 9,200 ft (2,804 m) with elevation 662 ft (201 m) above sea level.

The apron able to accommodate two ATR 42 type of aircraft simultaneously while the glass and steel terminal building is feature a VIP lounge, two check-in counters, a 30-seater security hold and two conveyor belts. A parking lot for 25 cars is also being constructed.

Even after its completion since August, 2012, the Bathinda Airport, one of the much hyped projects, has remained a non-starter, following reluctance of aviation companies to start domestic flights from here. Currently there are no scheduled flights operated in this Airport.

Amritsar Airport and Chandigarh Airport is located 98 km and 203 km away from Bathinda Airport.

The Airport is managed and controlled by AAI.
