Bareilly Airport
Bareilly Airport (IATA: BEK, ICAO: VIBY), is a civil enclave at Trishul Air
Base of the Indian Air Force at Izzatnagar, 6 kilometres North of Bareilly,
in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The airbase is not open to civilians except
some high government officials on government work.
A new terminal building was inaugurated on 8 March 2021 as part of the
airport expansion project. The building is spread over 3,020 square metres
and has a capacity to accommodate over 300 passengers. It has two baggage
conveyor belts and six check-in counters. It has an apron for parking of ATR
72-600 type of aircraft. The total cost of these works is expected to be
around Rs. 70 crore.
The Airport has a runway with concrete surface. The length of runway is
10,400 ft (3170 m) and located at an elevation of 578 ft (176 m) above mean
sea level. The Airport is managed and operated jointly by Indian Air Force
and Airports Authority of India.
Trishul Air Base
The air force station is one of the largest airbases of the Indian Air Force
(IAF). It is part of Central Air Command. It has a squadron of fighters, the
Sukhois and the helicopter squadrons. The Trishul Air Base in Bareilly had
Foxbats capable of flying up to 80,000 feet. The underground hangar it
possesses is considered to be one of the largest in Asia. The Russian-origin
Su-30 MKI fighters have been deployed at Bareilly.
