Behala Airport
Behala Airport (ICAO: VEBA) is located at Behala in the city of Kolkata,
India. It is more commonly referred as Behala Flying Training Institute (BFTI)
or Behala Flying Club (BFC).
The Ministry of Civil Aviation, India and
Airports Authority of India (AAI) have plans to develop it into a
full-fledged commercial airport by expanding the runway to 4,500 feet to
ease the pressure on the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose
International Airport in Kolkata.
Behala Airport has one runway with asphalt surface on 18L/36R oriented, 1066
m (3500 ft) long with elevation 10 m (3 ft) above mean sea level.
No scheduled commercial air service at this time.
AAI is the operator of
this Airport.
Previously, Pawan Hans was operated helicopter services from this Airport to Balurghat,
Durgapur, Malda and Santiniketan.
