Agartala

Agartala is a beautiful city that has seen various ups and down with the pace of time. There are various facts that are associated with the city and attract thousands of visitors throughout the year. Present day Agartala, was once the capital of the princely state ‘Swadhin Tripura’. Earlier, Maharaja Krishna Kishore Manikya made the old Agartala or the Old Haveli as the capital of the princely state but later in 1849 A.D., the capital was shifted from Old Agartala to the present day’s Agartala, which is situated on the banks of Haora River. Several famous temples, magnificent palaces, wild life sanctuaries and historical bungalows accentuate the beauty of this ancient land.
