Kasar Devi Temple
Kansar Devi Temple is believed to date back till the 2nd century AD and is
dedicated to Kasar Devi. The temple is located at an average elevation of
2,100 meters above sea level and is popular among most hikers as it offers
scenic views of the surroundings.
The spot itself is situated amidst thick covers of Pine and deodar forests
and that is a home to various species of birds.
The temple also hosts the popular Kasar Devi Fair on Kartik Poornima during
November to December.
From 1970 to early 1980s, this temple was the house of a Dutch Monk.
Foreigners also came to this temple to see its beauty.
Getting There
The Kasar Devi temple is located around 5 kms away from the city of Almora.
Buses and taxis from Almora ply to the spot.
The nearest railway station from Almora is at Kathgodam. It is about 81 km away from the city and can be
covered in almost two hours. The service of the trains is really good and it
is well connected to many other cities such as Moradabad, Delhi, Haridwar
and Bareilly etc.
