Ambadevi Temple
Shri Ambadevi Temple is situated at the heart of the city at Gandhi Square.
It is a very old temple and can find it's mention in the old gazetteers.
People from all walk of life and from different parts of India visit this
temple.
The presiding deity is Amba Devi (Goddess of Shakti). According to legends,
it is believed that Shri Krishna married Rukmini after abducting her when
she came to pray at the Ambadevi Temple. The Goddess Amba is popular amongst
the devotees from Vidarbha.
The Navaratri Festival, which falls just before Dasara festival, is
celebrated by people and the temple authorities with gaiety and Harmony.
During these nine days various cultural and religious programs are arranged.
Big mela is held on this occasion which is visited by people from all walk
of life with same enthusiasm.
Accommodation is available at Dharamshalas and in the rooms let by locals.
Getting There
Amravati is well connected by road, railways and air to the rest of the
country. Amravati is on the Badnera – Nagpur rail line and there are many
trains that connect Amravati to several important places of the country.
Amravati has its own domestic airport known as the
Amravati Airport. The
airport is situated at a distance of about 15 km outside city, located at Belora. Currently there are no scheduled airlines operating at
Amravati Airport.
Nagpur Airport is the nearest international airport which is located at a
distance of about 155 km from Amravati.
