Balasore, a beach town, is located in the state of Orissa and is famous for
Chandipur Beach and wonderful temples. Balasore is located near the coastal
line and hence the beaches are connected with this town. The local people
are basically dependent on farming, fishing and tourism for their
livelihood. There are many temples located in this town, which are old and
have beautiful architecture.
The main attractions of this place include temples, historical places like
tombs, palaces, nearby hills and beaches. All these things make this town
worth exploring and you will find many things to do in Balasore. Some of the
old temples of this region are Gopinatha Temple, Lagula Narasimha Dev and
Biranchinarayan Temple. These three temples make a trio and are located in 3
different directions in the city, hence protecting it from every side.
Chandipur beach has many resorts and hotels, which provide the tourists with
a place to stay during their visit and make their trip worthwhile by
providing all the facilities.
The tomb of a Sufi Saint located here is also famous and attracts many
pilgrims from all over India. Balasore is a beach town and hence the weather
of this place usually remains breezy and humid. Best months to visit this
place are from September-March.
National Highway 5 and National Highway 60 pass through the city. A part of
the Golden Quadrilateral project, this highway runs from Chennai to Kolkata.
Intra-city transport comprises cycle rickshaws and auto rickshaws. City
buses ply in two routes in the city to join the different parts of the city.
The bus terminus is at Sahadev Khunta and thousands of private buses ply to
hundreds of destinations everyday.
Balasore Railway Station is an important station on the Howrah-Chennai main
line of the South Eastern Railway. The distance to Kolkata is approximately
232 km, while the distance to Bhubaneswar is about 208 km. A branch line to
Baripada starts from Rupsa, near Balasore.
Balasore is connected to all parts of India through trains. In Balasore,
taxis, buses and autos are available easily. There are a number of
moderately priced hotels in the town.
