Barbil City Guides
Barbil is a town and a municipality in the Kendujhar district (also known as
Keonjhar district) of the state of Odisha, India. The region around Barbil
has the fifth largest deposit of iron ore and manganese ore in the world. It
is a major source of revenue generation for both the central and the state
government.
The Keonjhar district is known for rocks dating back about 38000 years ago
and has been of major attraction by the geologists and the archaeological
surveyors around the globe.
Barbil has a cosmopolitan culture due to the influx of people from almost
all states of India and boost of a very good Indian culture schools like 'Sarawati
Sishu Vidya Mandir' , Govt schools like Barbil High School, Barbil Girl's
High School, Nalda High school and other private schools like Gopabandhu
High School and convent school by the name 'St. Mary's School' and 'Jindal
School'.
Barbil is also well connected to Kolkata, Kendujhar and Bhubaneswar by road.
In Barbil, taxis, buses and autos are available easily. There are a number
of moderately priced hotels in the town.
Barbil Railway Station is on the Tatanagar–Bilaspur section of the
Howrah-Nagpur-Mumbai line. Barbil is connected to Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Puri
and Jamshedpur by train.
Barbil does not have its own airport. The nearest domestic airport is
Birsa Munda Airport, located at Ranchi, 220 km north of Barbil. It is about five
hours drive to
Birsa Munda Airport from Barbil. To make arrangements for a
taxi from Airport to Barbil, contact one the taxi operators and travel
agents that have counter in the Airport.
