Two other landmarks located near the fort are the tanks known as
Mira Sagar and Ram Sagar. Wedged between them is the Rang Mahal palace which
houses beautiful rock carvings.
Kanwarias or the devotees of God Shiva fill their pitchers from Ram Sagar
before starting their foot-march to their homes.
Getting There
In Sonbhadra,
taxis, buses and autos are available easily. The city is well connected by rail
and road to Delhi, Allahabad, Ranchi and Patna. There are a number of
moderately priced hotels in the town.
Muirpur Airport
is situated at Muirpur approximately 12 km from the Renukut is the nearest
airport to Sonbhadra.
Currently there are no scheduled commercial air service at this
Airport.
Varanasi International Airport
in Varanasi, 118 km north of Sonbhadra. It is
about two and a half hours
drive to the Airport from Sonbhadra. Buses are available at all hours of the day from
Varanasi and it normally takes 2½ hours to cover the distance.
