Agatti is a 5.6 km long island blessed with aquatic diversity that comprises coral growths, multi colored fishe and sea turtles. Being the gateway to Lakshadweep, Agatti is a small chain of islands that lies about 459 km off Cochin from the mainland and the nearest island, Bangaram is situated at a distance of about 7 km in the southwest direction. Agatti's total land area is spread over an area of 2.7 km². The eastern shore comprises of sand that rises from the level of reef flat at the time of low tides. The southern side of the island is less populated whereas the main population of the island lies in the nouthern side.

Agatti is also the only place in Lakshadweep which has an airport that makes this small island even far more accessible and within the reach of the tourists. The slow pace of life at the island is really wonderful experience and makes someone feel every moment of life is precious. Adventurous aquatic sports like snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, fishing, sailing and Water Skiing on the beaches makes this place a virtual paradise for the travelers. A road runs through the island, which can be best enjoyed by hiring a bicycle available at many places.

Agatti is one of the Lakshadweep islands open to tourism. Visitors, however, are allowed to the Island under certain restrictions. They are required to obtain Entry Permit from the Lakshadweep Administration for entering or visiting the island. Entry Permit is issued based on the visitor having a confirmed place to stay. There are only two hotels or resorts in Agatti: Agatti Island Beach Resort (AIBER) and the other is Sea Shells Beach Resort.

A road runs through the island, which can be best enjoyed by hiring a bicycle available at many places.

There is no direct railway facility connecting to Agatti Island. However, one can find the trains for Cochin and from there flight or ship facilities are available for the island. Therefore, how to reach Agatti is not a tough job.

Situated on the southern end of Agatti Island, Agatti Aerodrome is the single landing field in the Lakshadweep Islands which is located 5 km from the town center. The Airport is located in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep (India). There is only a single airline ‘Alliance Air’ which provides its services in this Airport.

Flight time from Kochi International Airport to Agatti Aerodrome is about 90 minutes. Visitors can connected to many domestic and international destinations from Kochi International Airport.
