Dhubri is the headquarter of
Dhubri district, Assam. It is an old town on the bank of the Brahmaputra and
Gadadhar rivers, with historical significances.
Dhubri District is bestowed with
attractive scenic beauties by the mother nature. Both the banks of river
Brahmaputra with its lush green fields, blue hills and hillock is a feast to
the eyes of the onlookers. The Chakrasila Wildlife Sanctuary, the Gurdwara
Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib, the Rangamati Mosque, Mahamaya Dham and the royal
palaces attract the people for their unique structures, religious sanctity
and mythological importance.
Dhubri was an important
commercial centre and had a busy river port particularly for jute. Dhubri is
called the "Land of Rivers" as it is covered three sides by rivers.
Dhubri is well connected by
road, railways and air to the rest of the country. Both Government & Private
Transports are available from Guwahati to Dhubri. One can board a bus at
Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT), Betkuchi, Guwahati. Private Buses are
available for day and night service. It takes about 5 to 6 hours from
Guwahati to Dhubri.
Dhubri is the terminal railway
station on the Fakiragram-Dhubri branch line. It also links to the New Cooch
Behar-Golokganj branch line.
