Dhule city is famous for its town
planning since the British were ruling India and it stands third in the
country, immediately after Chandigarh and Jaipur as one of the very few well
planned cities in India. Town planning of Dhule has been done by Sir
Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. According to sources, the only sand bed water
filtration plant in India is located at Dedargaon Pool near Dhule City.
Dhule is surrounded with various old heritage forts like Laling, Songir,
Bhamer.
Dhule Airport is
situated near Gondur village, about 8 km from the Dhule. Currently there are
no scheduled airlines operating at this Airport. The nearest domestic
airport from Dhule is Aurangabad
Airport, located at Aurangabad, roughly 155 km from Dhule, three and a
half hours drive via MH SH 22. The airport is well connected to many major
cities like Mumbai, Nagpur and New Delhi etc.

Songir Fort
Dhule
is recognized for its Songir Fort, constructed in the year 1820 and
contains inscription of Ugrasen, son of Raja Mansingh presenting the
bravery of Ugrasen at its entrance gate. |

Laling Fort
A small fort (qila) situated in the present day Dhule district of
Maharashtra state in India. The fort is situated on top of Laling Hill
about 9.65 km (6.00 mi) south of Dhule city. |

Ekvira Devi Temple
The Temple is very famous in Dhule city. Situated on the banks of
Panzara River, the temple houses the idol of goddess Ekvira Mata where

Anerdam Wildlife Sanctuary
A popular wildlife preserver in the
western Indian state of Maharashtra. Located on Bombay-Agra national
Highway in Shirpur Tehsil of Dhule District, the sanctuary is a part

Fud System
This is a unique ancient irrigation system built up by the farmers
in Panzara River Valley in Sakri Taluka of Dhule District. The River
valley is about 3257 sq km. developed co-operatively by constructing
stone wall of about two-three meters high. |
