Night fishing in the Sagar was an unforgettable scene. People of non
–professional fishing habit also had a hobby to catch fish at night. When
twilight deepens people with petromax light move in small boats on the
proximity of its bank. The fish charmed by the bright light come near the
boat and move around it. Then the fisherman throws the net or hit it with
the sword. The fluttered fish immediately floats over the surface and then
collected easily. There were smallest fish measuring almost half inch to
largest fish of 3-4 feet long available in this Sagar.
Jeypore Municipality has the
authority to take every care of it. But it has no right to lord over it, to
vivisect it and to exploit it.
The Jagannath Sagar is one of the most visited tourist destination
in Jeypore. Hathipathar and Dudma are the other major waterfalls in Jeypore
and offer mind blowing scenic beauty.
Getting There
The Jagannath Sagar can be reached from the Jeypore town easily.
Buses, taxis and auto rickshaws are available frequently. You can hire an
auto rickshaw for a to and fro journey. The auto drivers are well versed
with the tourist spots around the city and can take you on a safe ride
around the town.
Jeypore is well connected with
other nearby cities but there are some roads which are in a pathetic
condition. Rickshaws are available. There are a number of moderately priced
hotels in the town.
Jeypore has its own airport named
Jeypore Airport,
located 3 km north-west of the town.
Air Odisha is starting
chartered services to
Jeypore Airport on July 2015 from its main hub
at Biju Patnaik
International Airport, Bhubaneswar.
The nearest domestic airport is
Visakhapatnam Airport, located in
Visakhapatnam, 227 km southeast of Jeypore. It is about
five hours
drive to Visakhapatnam
Airport from Jeypore. To make arrangements for a taxi from Airport
to Jeypore, contact one the taxi operators and travel agents that have
counter in the Airport.
