Situated at the base of the Chamundi Hills and the second largest city in the Karnakata state, Mysore is 146 kilometres southwest of Bangalore, the capital of the state. Ruled by the Wodeyar dynasty until 1947, whose love for art and culture has left an everlasting imprint on this “cultural capital of Karnataka” This predominantly Hindu city lends its name to the Mysore style of painting, sweet Indian dish Mysore Pak and Mysore silk saris. A trip to Mysore is a must-do for sure!

Mysore has earned itself the sobriquet of “The City of Palaces” and this name suits the city. The beauty of Mysore is experienced in the city’s enchanting sights, its laid back lifestyle, and the calm and serene atmosphere. The visitor to the city is bound to come away with beautiful memories of this city and would want to re-live the same experience over and over again.

In Mysore, taxis, buses and autos are available easily. There are a number of moderately priced hotels in the town.

Mysore Palace Mysore Palace
Imposing and grand, Mysore Palace, the home of the Wodeyar Royal Family is nearly as impressive as the Taj Mahal. It also has much more to offer.
 
     
Jaganmohan Palace Jaganmohan Palace
This white palace is one of the most beautiful creations left to Mysore by the Wodeyar kings. The three story building was built in the traditional Hindu style and was built to serve as an alternative retreat for th Roal Family.
 
     
St. Philomena's Church St. Philomena's Church
A Catholic Church built in honour of St. Philomena in the Diocese of Mysore, India. It was constructed in 1936 using a Neo Gothic style and its architecture was inspired by the Cologne Cathedral in Germany.
 
     
Lalitha Mahal Palace Lalitha Mahal Palace
Is the second biggest royal residence in Mysore. It is found close to the Chamundi Hills, east of the city of Mysore in the Indian state of Karnataka.
 
     
Brindavan Gardens Brindavan Gardens
A garden located around 18 km from Mysore city center. It lies adjoining the Krishnarajasagara Dam which is built across the Kaveri River. Brindavan Gardens is one of the most visited places in Mysore by locals and tourists. Famous for their musical fountains.
 
     
Mysore Zoo Mysore Zoo
Officially known as Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, is a 157-acre (64 ha) zoo located near the palace in Mysore. It is one of the oldest and most popular zoos in India, and is home to a wide range of species.
