Lakhimpur is a city and a
municipal board in Lakhimpur Kheri district in the Indian state of Uttar
Pradesh. Widely known as the Sugar Bowl of India, Lakhimpur Kheri is
situated along the border with Nepal in Lakhimpur Kheri district of the
state of Uttar Pradesh. The city is immensely famous for Dudhwa National
Park which is the only National Park in the entire state. There are various
species of wildlife animals and birds that can be seen here along with
abundant natural resources and lush green vegetation.
The city is well known for its
sugar cane industry and supplies a massive part of the country’s total
consumable sugar to the different states. There are a large number of sugar
mills situated here.
Lakhimpur city is 124 km from the
state capital Lucknow. It can be easily reached by train (meter gauge) or
UPSRTC Bus services.
Lakhimpur has its own Railway Station named as Lakhimpur Kheri Railway
Station. It is well connected to major cities like Bareilly, Delhi, Barauni,
Amritsar, Darbhanga, Ambala, Gonda, Shahjehanpur and Lucknow.
