Lakhimpur is immensely famous for Dudhwa National Park which is the only National Park in the entire state. There are various species of wildlife animals and birds that can be seen here along with abundant natural resources and lush green vegetation.

The nearest airport from Lakhimpur is Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport at Lucknow, about 146 kilometers and it is two and a half hours drive from Lakhimpur. The Airport is well connected to other cities in India such as New Delhi, Mumbai, Agra, Chennai and Bangalore. From the Airport you can hire cabs or take a train to reach Lakhimpur.

Dudhwa Tiger Reserve (DTR) has two core areas, Dudhwa National Park and Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary, which were merged in 1987. Dudhwa National Park is known as the first National Park of the state after the formation of Uttarakhand.
