Nashik is a city in western India in the state of Maharashtra. Nashik is located in the north-west of Maharashtra, 171 km (106 mi) from Mumbai and 210 km (130 mi) from Pune and is the administrative headquarters of the Nashik District and Nashik Division. Witih a population of 1.5 million, Nashik is the fourth most populous city in Maharashtra and 25th most populous city in India.

Nashik is said to be the abode of Lord Rama during his 14 years in exile. It is located on the banks of the Godavari which originates in the south-west of the city at Trimbakeshwar. It is one of the four places in the world where the Kumbh Mela is held making it one of the holiest Hindu cities. The city is a a site for more than 100 ancient temples including the Kalaram Temple and Naroshankar Temple.

Kalaram Temple Kalaram Temple
The Kalaram Temple is an old Hindu shrine dedicated to Rama in the Panchavati area of Nashik city in Maharashtra, India. It is probably the most important Hindu shrine in the city. The temple derives its name from the statue of Lord Rama that is black.
Naroshankar Temple Naroshankar Temple
The 18th century Naroshankar temple dedicated to lord Sankara (Lord Shiva) is a beautiful temple, situated at Panchavati on the banks of river Godavari.
Pandavleni Caves Pandavleni Caves
Pandu Leni (also known as Trirashmi Caves and other variations) (Leni is Marathi word for caves), are a group of 24 caves carved between the 3rd century BC and the 2nd century AD, representing the Hinayana Buddhist caves and has nothing to do with the characters of Mahabharata (the Pandavas).
 
Ramkund Ramkund
This holy tank is 27 m by 12 m and was built in 1696 by Chitrarao Khatarkar. It is believed that Rama and Sita used to bathe in this tank during their exile. It is in this tank of holy water or kund that religious Hindus even today, immerse a dead person's ashes so that the soul of the dead person can attain moksha or liberation.

Muktidham is a marble temple complex honouring various Hindu gods. It is a popular tourist attraction situated in the Nashik Road suburb of the city of Nashik in the western state of Maharashtra in India.
 
Someshwar Temple Someshwar Temple
There are temples of Lord Shiva and Lord Hanuman on the banks of the river Godavari at Someshwar. This is a very green place as well as the climate is so cool. One can also enjoy swimming and boating here.

Panchavati Panchavati
Panchavati is the religious and holy place located on the northern part of river Godavari at a distance of 5kms from Nasik. Panchavati is a part of the Dandakaranya Forest which derived its name from the Sanskrit word pañca (five) and vata (Banyan Tree).
Deolali Deolali
Deolali, a popular hill station and health resort in Maharashtra, is located 16 km away from Nasik. The place is more familiar as Deolali Camp which is one of the oldest and important military center of India.
