The scenic landscape of Rajgir is located about 10 km from Nalanda in Bihar and is considered as one the major tourist attractions of Bihar. Rajgir has some very beautiful Hindu and Jain temples which attracts Hindus and Jains also to the place. Not only as a place for worship, Rajgir has come up as health and winter resort with its warm water ponds. These ponds are said to contain some medicinal properties which help in the cure of many skin diseases. The added attraction of Rajgir is the Ropeway which takes you uphill to the Shanti Stupa and Monasteries built by the Japanese Devotees on top of the Ratnagiri hills. The colourful Rajgir Dance Festival which begins from October 24- 26 this year is regarded as a major tourist attraction. During the festival the artists from the state present the classical and folk dances.

Other major attractions like Nalanda and Bihar Sharif are located in proximity to Rajgir making it an ideal tourist spot in Bihar. A day is enough to marvel the beauty of the places here and the list below could help you spot the best of Rajgir that you could visit in a day.

In Rajgir, taxis, buses and tongas are available easily. There are a number of moderately priced hotels in the town. Tourist can stay at any of three Tourist Bungalows maintained by the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation are available.

The Vishwa Shanti Stupa is an ancient pillar or peace pagoda in Rajgir. This pillar is situated on top of Griddhakuta or Ratnagiri Hill.

At the top of Ratnagiri Hill, where Lord Buddha preached many inspiring sermons, a Peace Pagoda has been built by the Buddha Sangh of Japan.
 
     
Venuvana Venuvana
A monastery that was the first offering to Lord Buddha by the King Bimbisara. The monastery was given to Lord Buddha so that he along with his monks could rest here and also give discourses to his disciples.
