Hissar district, also called
Hisar. Hissar town was one of the prime centers of Harappan culture. The
area has been associated with ancient Vedic tribes such as Bharatas, Purus,
Kurus, Mujavatas and Mahavrishas.
Prime tourist attractions
included Bishnoi Mandir,
Firoz Shah Palace Complex, Gujari Mahal and Humayun's Mosque.
Hisar has its own airport named
as Hisar Airport,
roughly 12 km from the city center.
Hisar Airport currently
is use by Haryana Institute of Civil Aviation’s flying club to provide
flying training. The nearest International Airport to Hisar is
Indira Gandhi International Airport
at New Delhi, roughly three hour drive from Hisar city. Frequent flights to
various national and international destinations take off from there.
